Meet Matt Goulart, founder and CEO of Ignite Digital, an online content and social media marketing company. INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS


AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, WHAT HAS BEEN ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST AH-HAH MOMENTS?

For us, we are extremely oriented on data... my ah-hah moment was definitely efficiencies in automation. Now everyone says that they're efficient, they're automated, productivity time is great but until you've actually have automated a good chunk or created a lot of these efficiencies in your business, you never really know it until it happens. We use a lot of tools in house to reduce labor costs but it allows our staff here to really maximize their time. 

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR FAILURES?

I've always said that we need to learn from the good and the bad. You need to always keep growing. If you're not growing you're just always staying flat, you're staying stale. Any time there is a setback or a failure what I typically like to do is i kind of like to sit back and analyze the situation and [figure out] what happened, what could be done [differently] next time?

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR?

I'm grateful for my family and friends. Also for the staff that we have here. If it wasn't for everyone around here to create a family environment, a fun environment, no one would want to come to work. So I'm very grateful for the staff that we have. The staff is always looking out for our clients and ultimately our clients objectives so I'm extremely grateful for everyone here. 

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU INTENTIONALLY DO EVERY DAY?

I wake up....I'm quite happy to be alive and kicking so that always a good one. Intentionally right beside my office there is a big gong, a big massive gong. So intentionally I always smack the gong and it rings and I always do that every morning... if anyone's a little bit sleepy in the morning after I ring that thing, everyone is wide awake after that. 

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND VISIT YOURSELF PRIOR TO BECOMING AN ENTREPRENEUR, WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE THAT YOU WOULD GIVE YOURSELF?

Set aside the fear. Push that away. We're entrepreneurs for a reason. We're mavericks in what we do. We're always constantly pushing and what allows us to constantly push is that we have fears, but we push those fears down. When I was initially starting I could've started earlier but fear kind of takes over sometimes. So I would kind of tell myself to push away that fear. Keep going forward. Don't stop and constantly keep on working. That hard work and work ethic will always pay off. 

WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS TODAY?

Do it. Don't stop. Never give up and just go follow your passion. Do something that you love and that you are going to be passionate about.  Your going to wake up every morning, make sure that you are doing something that you love are are passionate about; otherwise what's the point?

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

My goals, my passion really stem from my life goals. I believe that everyone should have life goals. My life goal is to create something that outlives me...So for me personally, I am currently looking to build leaders. I want to build leaders within my organization that can grow, that are passionate, that are passionate about digital marketing, passionate about what they're doing no matter what the role is. I want people like that so we are always looking for the best people possible to help create a bigger Ignite Digital. An Ignite Digital that can help clients achieve what they want. Ultimately what we are always trying to do is help our clients grow. If we're able to help our clients grow, they won't leave...
